"Shadow of my Former Self"

We walk in the shadows
Of our former selves
The earthly bonds
Of days gone by
In remembrance
Of all we have seen
Those innocent days
Which now magnify
Time is the only part of the essence
That cannot be recaptured
Part of our dreams
Or so it seems
Only in memory is enraptured
In the shadows
Of what we once were
To the sound of the tinkling brass

Pretty easy to write like this. It's nothing special. Just write what you really feel.

So what if your former self was more brazen, more fierce, more honest, more true. That part which perhaps you sacrificed over the years. Is it possible to live up to that expectation of that idealistic child that was once you? Your poetry is stunning, it really is - thank you for this.

Every end seems to have meaning and is a part of the puzzle for me.The child in me still resides but is safely tucked away where it is out of harms way.As far as living up to the idealistic child-that is gone and was washed away after sitting in the cuckold stool for all those years.
