Deep in the forest
Where light does not glow
Seldom is heard a stirring amongst branches
The gatheering places of detached leaves
Brittle cones from pine trees
Scratching the surface for air
Abandoned by their bearers
Adopted by the soil that awaits
When trees fall into their own fates
Rotting homes to many are they
Until they meet once again with soil
The return to dust as everything must
Emanated light in the distance
Fails to pierce the darkness
The stirring of branches is concealed
In seldom lighted darkness revealed
Where all things meet their fate
