Playin' the tunes as they come to me
Harmonica Man is what they call me
I started out playin' when I was a boy
Down on the Mississippi Delta
Chopped that cane all day long
Played my harmonica all night long
Heard that music in my head
All day long and all night long
It kept things buzzin' in my head
Even when momma was layin' in bed
Don't know how to play by note
Plenty o' them songs that I have wrote
Used that harp to get my girl
Used that harp to pay my way
Used that harp to say what I wanted to say
Down in them towns where I used to play
Pure music flowin' from the Mississippi mud
I'll play til the music won't play no more
